This is a shot in the dark. I was driving home yesterday and there was a beautiful wedding happening Duportail House. It was dusk and the entire area was so beautifully lit. They also had a food truck Southbound Barbecue & Catering outside, so I had to look up their page and now I am craving BBQ food😋😂.

I actually turned in the driveway to get a picture, but Rio was with me and as I started to roll down the window I knew he was going to bark, so we left😊. My parents were driving by around the same time and they graciously took a picture.

Since I share the wedding date with this newly married couple, I thought I would do something fun. If anyone knows the couple and/or knows that they like desserts, I would love to make them some sweet potato muffins. They had a beautiful day to get married and I wish the newly married couple all of the happiness. I hope someone reaches out to me on this post.😊

For all of married couple, what is one piece of advice that you would give a newly married couple? I’ll go first😊.

My advice: If you are talking(arguing) to win the argument, you have already lost. It is about listening to understand one another. This was wonderful information that Chris and I learned from a married couple during our Pre-Cana.

Over the many years of making wedding cakes this is by far my favorite one. I can see imperfections, and more importantly I see the start of the best years of my life with my best friend. Thank you to Christina Harvey for making the gorgeous gum paste flowers.

Chris was happy with any flavor, but since I couldn’t decide so I made three flavors, Lemon Delight, Raspberry N Cream and Chocolate Mousse.

It was simply one of the BEST day of my life. Cheers to 28!

Yesterday was my dad’s 85th trip around the sun and he had a wonderful day. We spoke early that morning and he told me that on his daily walk, he saw a women that he hadn’t seen in almost a year. They would acknowledge each other with a wave 👋 and a head nod. He worried that something had happened to her, so he truly felt like it was a gift to see her on his birthday.

We celebrated him by going to a wonderful restaurant EGAWA in Malvern, located right next to Rothman Institute. It could not have been a nicer celebration. When my parents arrived they were greeted with two gorgeous floral arrangements made by a dear family friend Mary (I thought the restaurant had provided them). Mary and Martin stopped by earlier and asked Candance, the wonderful owner, to place them on the table as a surprise to my dad.

When I tell you that the food was absolutely delicious and equally wonderful was Helen, our server, Hugh, the restaurant manager, Candace, the restaurant owner and Nicki, Candace’s daughter, the official photographer that allowed me to actually be in a picture 😂.

The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and you can tell that Candace thought through every….single ….detail, even the bathroom is beautiful.

I had the chicken teriyaki and it truly was the most delicious and tender chicken teriyaki I have ever had and I told her if she bottled the ginger dressing for the Egawa salad, I would be buying it every week.

Candance opened EGAWA on August 8 and when you walk in you feel like a regular customer and when you walk out you feel like family, like Norm from cheers.

It was also nice to see familiar smiles from the bakery. Nicole and her family were enjoying their dinner and on their way out her husband asked what Sweet Jazmines dessert we were having. 😂😂. We enjoyed EGAWA desserts (Fried Cheesecake, Matcha Ice Cream and Tiramisu), but I will be making some
Eclairs this weekend for my dad.

It was just an all around terrific day for my dad. He doesn’t ask for much so being surrounded by family and enjoying dinner at one of his new favorite restaurant was simply the BEST.

Happy Birthday to Mr Rio Pio. Rio turned 8 today and he has brought us unconditional love and joy.
