I need to share a cute story with you. A year ago we decided to get some chickens because well that is what you do when you are a baker right?! Well we really have enjoyed having fresh eggs and watching the girls free range. About a month ago we decided let’s incubate our Rouen duck eggs and see how that goes. Success! 4 adorable little quackers which we found an amazing home for along with 2 of the adult broody mamas so we now have 2 ducks and 15 chickens. Perfect! No not yet! Now we have 2 hens that are broody so we decide “why not?” Let them set too. About a week ago it was close time for them to hatch so we moved both girls and eggs into the nursery. They hatched a total of 8 chicks but 2 did not make it. The Brahma decided she did not want to wait any longer she wanted to live the mom life so she got off the eggs and spent the day playing with babies. So we decided to rescue the remaining 4 eggs and put them in the brooder. Yesterday they started to hatch! 2 total hatched and 1 hatched over night. Let me show you 😁💕😳

I'd like to share a delightful anecdote. In light of the increasing price of eggs and my regular baking activities, obtaining a few chickens seemed logical. As it stands, having chickens has been a pleasant and moderately rewarding experience. A few of the hens have distinctive names. Two of them became broody, prompting us to let them sit and incubate some duck eggs as well.
A few weeks ago we hatched 4 Rouen babies in the incubator and found them and 2 of the duck hens an amazing home. We did keep 1 hen and 1 drake but she does not seem to lay or she hides them somewhere. 😏. The chicken hens were separated last week because it was near hatching time and we assumed they would become vicious (which they did!). They hatched out 4 olive egger chicks and 2 yellow chicks on the 14th. They abandoned the last 4 eggs to take care of the babies …….so why not! Let’s incubate them 😃. Yesterday the started hatching 🐣. 2 hatched, 1 was not viable and 1 was beginning to peep but still time to go so I went to bed. This morning I awoke to find she hatched! I was so excited. Let me show you these sweet peeps ♥️

I still have a few openings for November and December of this year if you are planning a wedding or corporate event and need a desert table ☺️. After expanding our custom sugar cookies to now offering cookies and sweet treat tables, our schedule is filling fast. Let’s make a plan and let me take the stress off your shoulders so you can concentrate on other things. I also am taking orders for the 2027 year and so excited at all the possibilities.
