Before I decided to close I wanted to get more awareness and support for the small businesses, especially downtown. So when I went to the paper to do an article, I didnāt want to make it about me and my business only. Ultimately I couldāve kept it going and no one thing or person was why I made my decision. It was just the right time in the end.
And I appreciate and am so grateful for Beth, MY TEAM, my friends, my family, all the other small businesses, my customers, this town, everyone!!!!!!
I wanted this article to be a wake up call. Our town is at such an advantage in so many ways, but yet we are so behind as well. I look at all the towns around us and what they do to help their small businesses and town to work together and I get discouraged.
Iāve been a small business owner in this town for 10 years now. And itās been a disheartening journey. But the support and positive help has always made it worth it. Iāve always been told āyou canāt do thisā ā you canāt do thatā ā thatāll never workā āthey wonāt allow itā. Itās always been more of a warning when starting a business here than it has been encouraging.
But if you push through and find your people and community. Itās great! But sadly. Itās not enough to support and grow a small business.
We need tourism in this town and give people a reason to come here and stay for awhile and come back. We built new baseball fields and doing more houses. GREAT
Now letās give people something to do during those tournaments and when they move here so they donāt just sleep here and live life outside of town. Make them want to invite their friends and family HERE. And we should be working with the businesses to promote what we have to offer.
And itās not just one person or one entity. Itās just the missed connections everywhere that are keeping everyone doing their own thing.
Itās a little dramatic, as I usually am. But itās been this way since Iāve been in the game, still is that way, and itāll stay that way unless people really see itās a PROBLEM.
Save our small local businesses. Thatās all this PSA is really all about.
