Last year, our Blueberry Bake-Off was one of my favorite parts of The Blueberry Festival!!

The entries were incredible. Some were family recipes that had been perfected over decades, others were brand new creations, and every single one made our judges work a little harder than they expected.

So we’re doing it again.

If you’ve got a blueberry pie, cake, muffins, bars, bread, cookies, or another blueberry specialty that people ask you to bring to every gathering, this is your chance to put it to the test.

The winner will take home:

• $150 cash
• One year of cider donuts from The Apple Barn
• A full year of bragging rights

The Blueberry Bake-Off takes place during our Blueberry Festival on Saturday, July 25.

Whether you’re a seasoned baker or just have one recipe that never lets you down, we’d love to see what you’ve got.

We’ve got a lot happening at The Apple Barn this weekend!

🐞 FREE Release the Ladybug Days from 10 AM to 3 PM. Come learn about beneficial insects, enjoy our story walk, and help release ladybugs into the garden.

🌱 The greenhouse is still full of beautiful flower, vegetable, and herb plants.

🍓 Fresh local produce is rolling in, including strawberries, rhubarb, kale, rainbow chard, spring onions, radishes, mushrooms, and lettuce.

Add in fresh baked goods, creemees, coffee, and plenty of reasons to linger awhile, and you’ve got the makings of a pretty great weekend. We hope to see you!

These beauties are called Painted Tongues, and somehow I’d never heard of them before this year. Their blooms look almost hand-painted, with incredible colors and patterns that stop you in your tracks.
Fresh from Wildstone Farm and still arriving every week, the greenhouse is absolutely showing off right now.

If you haven’t wandered through the greenhouse lately, now is a pretty great time. Between the flowers, vegetables, herbs, and hanging baskets, there’s something new blooming every time we turn around.

Open daily, 8-5. Come take a stroll and see what’s blooming.

Welcome to Our Mudroom.

If you’ve spent much time in Vermont, you know that every good home has a mudroom.

It’s the place where boots get kicked off, coats get hung up, and you start to feel home.

That’s exactly why we call our community café space The Mudroom.

At the heart of the room are three beautiful family-style tables crafted from reclaimed barn beams. A dear friend built them for his mountaintop wedding, and I feel incredibly fortunate that they found a second home here at The Apple Barn, where they continue bringing people together every day.

Over the years, The Mudroom has hosted coffee dates, family gatherings, business meetings, our local chess group, friends catching up, folks working remotely, and neighbors simply stopping in for a cup of coffee and a conversation.

What many people don’t realize is that we are also happy to reserve the space for community groups. Whether you’re organizing a book club, parents group, knitting circle, garden club, support group, or another community gathering, we’d love to help make room for you.

And when the weather cooperates, there’s even more room to spread out with picnic tables, outdoor seating, and plenty of space for kids to play.

The Mudroom was always intended to feel a little like home. A place to settle in, stay awhile, and gather around the table.

🫐 Calling All Young Entrepreneurs! 🫐

Does your child love to create, build, bake, craft, or dream up business ideas?

Our Young Entrepreneurs Corner at the Blueberry Festival gives kids the chance to run their own booth, meet customers, make sales, and learn what it’s like to be a small business owner, all in a fun and supportive environment.

There is no upfront booth fee. Instead, young vendors contribute just 5% of their sales at the end of the day, with our vendor coordinator helping them do the math and settle up themselves.

It’s more than a vendor space. It’s a chance to build confidence, creativity, and real-world skills.
