Fika Bakeshop & Kitchen Fika Bakeshop & Kitchen is a Scandinavian-inspired pop-up home bakery and cafe.

Fika (fee-ka) is the Swedish tradition of daily coffee or tea breaks with baked treats and good company. Fika reflects the Swedish ideal of balance, connection, and pausing to enjoy life’s small joys. Susan Ortmeyer is a local mom, baker, and gardener who put down roots in Ben Lomond in 2011 with her husband and then 2-year old daughter. She believes in sustainable gardening, seasonal eating, and

using fresh, local and organic ingredients whenever possible. The seeds of Fika Bakeshop were planted early in Susan's life by her Swedish-American mother, who passed along Sweden’s cultural traditions through the food she cooked for her family. August is historically a pretty slow month for Fika. I'm going to lean into it and just do the Viking Hall delivery and Saturday Fika Bake Carts this month, so that I have time for some behind-the-scenes stuff. Recipe testing, deep cleaning, legal and business crap, you know -- THAT kind of stuff.

Getting ready for Fika Cafe, starting at 10 am TODAY (7/26)! We’ve got cardamom buns and savory corn, pepperoni and hot honey scones all baked out, plus my Skyr yogurt cups (with homemade cardamom granola!) are finished. More to come!

Sampler boxes available for pickup!! Each box comes with one cardamom bun, one Swedish cinnamon bun, one jammy crumble bun, one sweet scone (either blueberry or apricot) and one savory corn, pepperoni and hot honey scone.

$20 each! Reduced because they were baked this morning. I have more buns and corn scones available too, just ask me.
