65 was once the age of retirement. At 65, a person would qualify for Medicare and begin a new chapter in their lives. You could enjoy the “Golden Years” after working for the first half of your life. That’s no longer a reality for many. In 2024, approximately 11.3% of Missourians 65 and older lived in poverty! For rural communities and communities of color those numbers are higher.
Today is Support a Senior Friday! Your donation of $65 will provide groceries, personal care items, household supplies and other necessities for a senior in need. Our Heart of Our Community senior outreach program serves seniors in Cass, Jackson and Johnson counties.
Our Executive Director kicked off this day of giving in honor of her mother! Join us in making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
