Hi friends! 👋🏼 Since there are so many new faces here lately, I thought I’d introduce myself a little more personally!
I’m Jess — 33, a mom to three girls, a caffeine addict ☕️, bread baker, and photographer 📸. Most days you’ll find me covered in flour, editing photos, reheating my coffee for the third time, or recipe testing something sourdough-related. 😂
A few fun facts about me:
• I grew up in Metro Detroit, Michigan, and Mackinac Island was my favorite childhood vacation spot growing up. It still feels magical every time I visit. 🤍
• I’m Native American and part of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
• I went to film school on the backlot of Universal Studios in Orlando and worked as a visual effects compositor after graduating. My name is actually in a couple movie credits 👀
• My dad worked for Fox News Detroit for 35 years as a professional videographer/editor and retired as a 6-time Emmy Award winner. Watching his creativity growing up is what sparked my love for photography and storytelling.
• My husband and I lived in Germany for 4 years as newlyweds, and that’s where my love for bread truly blossomed. There’s honestly nothing better than a warm buttery croissant and a latte macchiato. 🤌🏼 I didn’t start making sourdough until we moved back to the US and I became more aware of just how much of our food here is filled with preservatives and unnecessary ingredients.
• When I’m not baking, recipe testing, or taking photos, I love reading fantasy books, trying new restaurants and cocktails, hiking, and working out!
Thanks so much for following along on this journey with me. I usually only get to chat with y’all briefly through stories and porch pick-ups, so I thought it would be fun to share a little more about who I am and how I got here. 🫶🏼
Now tell me something about YOU! What’s a fun fact about yourself? Drop it in the comments! 👇🏼
