In May we started the adventure of raising meat pigs as a family for our family. It was such an amazing learning experience from the oldest of us to the youngest! There is nothing better than growing your own food and knowing exactly what they ate and how they lived. Located at the Makson Meats Cooperative Extension (Mimi & Papa’s house), these pigs ate and lived well until we harvested them this beautiful December weekend.

We hope to expand operations next year to include more pigs! Comment if you would be interested in purchasing a share of a home grown pig. They would be sold as half or whole shares. As of right now we are just looking to see if there is interest around. Follow along for updates and opportunities!

And with that Deer Season 2025 is wrapped up! We want to take a minute to thank everyone who trusted Makson Meats to process deer this year! Thank you all! It’s truly appreciated!

After several years of growing our family (during deer season lol) this was the first year we were able to start this adventure and what an absolutely amazing experience it’s been! There were late night and frozen hand but there were also days with family and meeting new people!

We wouldn’t have been able to have such an amazing year without the help of R.L. Mercantile & Trading Post (Brea Kirstie Willette and Paul) with all the recommendations, taking in deer for us (before and after processing), calling customers, and just having patience with us as we navigated our first deer season! Thank you guys! We appreciate all the help (Lord knows we needed it lol)!

While we are thanking people…a huge thank you to Papa (Frank Makson) for bailing us out a time or two!! Having three generations in the trailer this year was an amazing experience and something we look forward to for many years to come! With thanking Papa we also have to thank Mimi (Julie Makson) for all the emotional support and help with the kids! We love and appreciate you! Lastly, but certainly not least thank you Jordan Cole for help push deer through this last weekend!

We look forward to seeing everyone for the 2026 season! Until then thank you! 🦌
