Holiday Baking Tip: If you are making cookies this season and need colored sugar, just use food coloring and regular sugar and make your own. Put sugar and a couple of drops of color into a zipper bag, give it a few shakes and then put on a plate to dry. You'll need to break it up (it dries in a clump) and then it's ready to use. I made 5 colors (you can't get these in the UK) and it cost me pennies.


Living in London means our Thanksgiving feast is delayed by two days. So, today I am baking pies (Pumpkin, Pecan and Caramel Apple Cheesecake). What was your favorite dessert yesterday?


Ever have your cupcakes sink in the middle like the one on the left? Try cranking up the heat to 400* for the first 5 minutes; then return to 350* for the rest of the baking time. The high heat helps your cupcakes to set and retain their dome-like shape.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that effective immediately, Doe Bakery is closing its doors.

I am packing up my cake pans and moving with my family to London.

It has been such a joy to work with all of you and to be a part of the important events in your lives. So, I'd like to say thank you to everyone for your support during the past 5+ years. Because of you, I've not only improved my technique and creativity, but also I've been able to do a job that I am truly passionate about. I will continue to bake and hopefully grow in my craft, however, I will now be doing it solely for my family.
