I added some progress-shots with this post, which I usually do not do! But, this cake was so much fun to make, and I thought I’d share part of the process. On TV cake shows, details like the wine bottle are usually made out of cereal treats, but I have a goal to make my cakes out of as much cake as possible!

Inside is my favorite—yellow cake with chocolate buttercream. It was my Pop pop’s favorite also, and I‘ve tried my hardest over the years to get as close as possible to the birthday cake my Grandma used to make him.
