Whatever you do in life, if the best part along the way isn't the people you meet, you've chose the wrong path. One of my favorite chocolatiers I've met in my 18 years is Robyn Dochterman, founder of St Croix Chocolates in St Croix Minnesota. I knew while spending the weekend here I had to visit and I wasn't disappointed. She has sold the shop to the next generation of chocolatiers in Chef Jason but the same quality and creativity still shines through. Like me, Robyn stumbled on artisan chocolates somewhere halfway through life and her passion and dedication were contagious. She and her wife Deidre are on to their next adventure planting a chestnut orchard and I'm sure the same spirit that made her successful at St Croix chocolates will lead her on this new passion. I always love trying chocolates when I travel but it's even more special when I know the story of hard work and passion behind them.

First off I want to thank all of our customers over the years who have supported us and made this adventure possible. I like that we can use social media to keep in touch but there is also a dark side. Today we received 2 negative reviews and I don't feel its indicative of how hard my staff and I work to make William Dean Chocolates special. I understand mistakes happen and I'm sure we could have handled the situation better. My personal philosophy is a bad experience is an opportunity to make an even better one. I'm not sure I've always succeeded, but I've tried. Anyway, my reason for this post is to get a better idea of how we've done. If you feel so inclined and have the time, I'd love to know your experience with William Dean. I hope they are good but if not, I promise to take your responses to heart and try to improve. Thanks again. Bill
