How Smithie’s Creations started.
Smithie’s Creations is owned and operated by Linette Sbresny-Smith. In 2011, a single mother to her son Caden, she was looking for something to keep her busy and earn a little extra cash after a disabling injury. After several unsuccessful attempts at arts and crafts, she turned to her favorite pastime, and deep passion for baking. She settled in and began researching “Michigan Cottage Food Laws” and after 2 years she began baking and selling on Facebook’s popular resale sites. In 2016, Linette and Caden moved to Beaverton Michigan. Wanting to continue her business she began looking for venues to sell and decided to take part in the local Farmer’s Markets.
Linette’s recipes include ones that have been passed down from generations before her, with her own added touches here and there. Plus recipes she created herself. All ingredients are quality and any fresh fruits and vegetables are locally grown. She makes her own dough from scratch, no artificial pudding or pie mixes are used in her baking.
In the summer 2018, Linette took a leap of faith and entered some of her baked goods into the Gladwin and Clare County Fairs, taking Best of Show at both fairs and earning 1st and 2nd place ribbons on all her entries.
