Every summer, I risk my life climbing a very tall ladder to pick my favorite fruit of the season. I sweat, dodge yellow jackets, and reach as far as my arms will go for a prized bucket of ripe figs. This year my figs came from a small Down East community. What a treasure...and I didn’t have to climb a ladder to get them! Dozens of jars later, my “coastal fig preserves” are tucked away on the pantry shelf. It’s true...Big joy is found in the little things!
