Well….first cake “back” and this one decided to throw me for a doozy! Hahah! Again, I don’t usually do wedding cakes, it’s really special occasions I do.
I am setting up in the tent outside got the cake staked, and was piping my seams…and then, I noticed…the cake was MELTING. I knew it was warm outside, but crap!! I had to think fast because the buttercream was slowly sliding down the sides.
I was able to get inside and start trying to fix the cake. It was too warm…so I cleared out a side of my mom’s friend’s fridge, took shelves out, and put the cake in there to cool it off. It took time, but I was able to get it cooled down enough to start fixing it all. It doesn’t look as good as when I had brought it, but you have to do the best you can in un-planned situations. Hahahah!
I got the flowers in (I love doing cascading design for tiered cakes) and put it back in the fridge where it stayed until they were getting close to cake time. It was still too warm outside for it to sit, since my frosting only consists of butter, powdered sugar, and flavored extracts. They were so happy with the cake, and I apologized for how everything went, but I guaranteed the taste will be incredible 😁
Unfortunately this is the only picture I got of the cake when it was done…in the fridge. The friends said they would get pictures of it for me when it was brought out, and I hope to see those at some point! Oh also, my Mom made the cake topper- I sent her a picture of something I thought would look nice, and she made it, since the bride never got a cake topper or anything. Hahahah!
