Today we are celebrating a very special person in my life - my uncle, Charles Flowers. He is 90 years old.
I have a hard time calling him Charles. I even struggled to put the name Charles on the cookie. Though his friends know him as Charles, most of the family knows him at Nubbin or Nub. He was always my Uncle Nub. He is funny and always makes you feel special and never fails to tell you he loves you. Adores all of his family - always has treated my aunt like a queen. He’s an excellent man.
He’s had a few name changes over the years. My daughter absolutely adored him when she was just a tiny thing and she still loves him. When she started talking, she called him Uncle Nug. She was always happy to see her Uncle Nug.
When she got old enough, she would go spend a week a couple of times a year with Uncle Nug and Aunt Sis (Ida). She was spoiled rotten every time. He waited on her hand and foot. She always demanded him to make gumbo. One day as he was taking care of Zoey, she decided that he was a good servant and decided his servant name would be - Pinky. Of course, he began answering to Pinky.
