Last night we hurried out to the garden to harvest our basil forest before the cold got to it!

Every year we plant as many varieties of basil as we can get our hands on and throw them all together in one garden bed. It’s easily one of our favorite things to grow. We harvest from it all summer long and somehow it just keeps getting bigger!

It’s a little bittersweet knowing this was the last of those beautiful, vibrant greens in our garden for the year.

Now we’ll get the garden ready for winter and turn our attention to all the ideas and projects we’ve been saving for the colder months.

I always hate to see the garden season end, but I’m excited for a change of pace around here. 🤍

We’re open and stocked!!

Ryan and I spent all day yesterday transforming our little farm stand into a shop and it turned out even better than we imagined!!

Fun fact! I’ve had one of those leather bags for at least 20 years. I’ve almost gotten rid of it so many times, but I always had this vision of someday having my own little shop filled with an eclectic mix of things. Yesterday I got to hang that bag up with a price tag on it in my own shop!! 🥹

It’s still surreal to look out our front window and see that little shop sitting at the end of our driveway. Something we dreamed about, worked hard for and made happen together.

I’m just really proud of us and what we’re building here.

Anyway, come see for yourself!! We’re open and plan on keeping those shelves stocked with all your favorites and plenty of new things too!

I said I had some news, so here it is!!

This might look like something small, but to us this is HUGE!!! It’s another big piece of our dream coming true. And the crazy part is, we’re right on time. Right where we dreamed we’d be this time last year.

It’s pretty amazing to look around and realize that everything we said we were going to do, we’re actually doing.

It’s been one year since Ryan left his 9-5 blue collar job to go all in on our farm and nature school. We’ve had our fair share of bumps in the road, but every time we’ve hit one, we’ve huddled, figured out our next move and kept going.

We set goals and we keep reaching them. And we’re aiming way higher this year!!

I said people would line up for our farm stand, and they do. I said we’d sell out regularly, and we do. I said we’d be recognized and respected as farmers, and we are.

Not everyone believed in what we were doing, but we did. And I’m so glad we never let anyone talk us out of it.

There’s something really special about watching a life you once only dreamed about become the life you’re actually living.

If I haven’t responded to your texts, calls or messages lately, here’s why.

We’re busy.

Busy bottle feeding a baby goat. Busy watching my oldest dive into responsibility with so much passion. Busy watching my middle child be in awe of her big sister playing mama to this little goat, taking mental notes on how to be a big girl just like her.

Busy watching my son learn to be gentle with baby animals and start his mornings with a whole new routine of farm chores.

Busy watching Ryan somehow manage to make sure every living thing on this farm has what it needs to grow. Busy watching him thrive in fatherhood. Busy watching him master multi tasking.

And me? I’m busy being really proud of where we are and where we’re headed.

It might look like we just brought home a cute little goat, but something has shifted in our family this season. We’re all learning and growing in different ways, and I’m giving a lot of credit to this little fluffball. 🐐

I’d usually apologize for being so busy, but I’m not sorry.

We like it here. 😊
