Have you ever wondered why home bakeries and small businesses sometimes seem more expensive than big companies or commercial kitchens?
It’s a great question, and one I truly love the chance to explain!
When you order from a home bakery, you’re not just paying for the final product. You’re supporting a process that’s much more hands-on and personal from start to finish. Every item is made in small batches, often from scratch, using carefully selected ingredients. Unlike large-scale operations that buy in bulk at a lower cost, small businesses typically pay more for high-quality ingredients and materials!
There’s also a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t always see. There is recipe testing, prep work, baking, decorating, packaging, cleaning, messaging, ordering supplies, running a social media account and so much more. Every order is handled with care and intention, and that time truly adds up.
On top of that, there are overhead costs—equipment, tools, utilities, packaging, and all the little details that keep a small business running smoothly.
I completely understand that custom baked goods aren’t always within everyone’s budget, and I will never take that personally. I do my best to keep my prices as fair and accessible as possible, and sometimes I even take a bit of a hit simply because I love what I do so much. But I also have to be mindful and make sure I’m running my business in a sustainable way 🤍
To all of my new and returning customers, thank you. Your support truly means the world to me, and it’s because of you that I get to continue doing something I love every single day. I am so grateful for each and every order, share, recommendation, and kind word. Thank you for being here and for supporting my small business 💛
