We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and your patronage.
After a lot of soul-searching and discussions, my mother and I have decided that it’s time we move on to new adventures and shut down day to day operations at the shop.
Our last day of business will be this Saturday, May 31st.
Mom plans on retiring and I have been presented with many new opportunities…that I can’t wait to explore and share with you when the timing is right.
What started as a silly idea during the Covid 19 shut down turned in to something extraordinary.
From being completely self taught and spending thousands of hours perfecting recipes, techniques, and making all those close to me taste test every creation I made imaginable - to dreaming up the idea to put it in to motion in a brick and mortar on Liberty street. We gutted and renovated the space quite literally from the ground up. The amount of work it took especially from Charlie and the magnitude of hours he spent to get that little shop to what it looks like today is insurmountable. Hours of blood sweat and tears we poured into this space to make it something special, for you.
We could have never expected this to lead to the initial success we received - lines wrapping down the block for WEEKS, sell out days over and over to where we couldn’t keep up, to being on the news twice, to being published in travel guides. I kept thinking to myself the night before we opened “what if no one shows up?” Well, you showed up. You all showed up, and showed up so big.
We’ve met some incredible people along the way and are so very grateful and blessed you have allowed us to share in your milestones and moments - you allowed us to be there for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, sporting events, school fundraisers, graduations, benefits, celebrations, showers, sweet baby gender reveals, appreciation gifts - to your heartaches when loved ones have passed and you’ve needed desserts to feed your family.
We’ve participated in some amazing local markets and partnered with some of the best wineries, distilleries and orchards in the FLX and in our opinion the best in the state of New York.
We were humbled to have participated in the baking worlds equivalent of Make a Wish, or when you’ve brought your furbabies in to our place for their final pupcake or sweet treat before heading to the rainbow bridge. What an honor.
Your dogs and pets have quite literally made up what it was like to visit “that dog bakery” in Bath, New York. We’ve cherished making their birthday cakes or simply coming out of the kitchen for a serotonin boost and some quick pets. We still fully believe dogs make the world a better place, and we are grateful to all of you who have brought cheer and sunshine into our shop by allowing your furbabies to stop in. We’d like to thank the Hornell Area Humane Society for lending us their adoptable babies for us to showcase and help find their forever homes via our shop. We were successful. And it brought so much joy to our customers to come in to pet a loving deserving animal looking for a family.
While we started our toy drive next door almost 9 years ago benefitting children in the Steuben county foster care system, our storefront allowed for us to continue that holiday tradition. You came in droves with toys and necessities for those in need and did so again this past year when we were able to sponsor five families and their children during Christmas. To inspire good in the community was the goal - and you all rose to the occasion.
To our local law enforcement agencies we’d like to thank you for basically keeping our lights on with the support you’ve shown us. You’ve kept our shop a safe space and we appreciate these men and women more than they ever will know. If you’re out and about please recognize these people for the work they do for this community and treat them to a coffee (or iced chai 😉) Park Café style. They deserve it.
We cannot thank our amazing staff who has quite literally been the grease that keeps the wheel going. All of our girls have made lasting impressions on us and without them the shop wouldn’t be what it’s grown to be. We love you.
Our business is not “going under”. It’s simply pivoting. Revamping. Reinventing. Every good thing in life shifts at some point, and after 4 years it’s our time to embrace some transformation. Get a breath of fresh air in an new environment, spend more time with loved ones and slowing down in a way that’s good for the soul.
We are forever proud of the fact that we took big risks and we were a one stop shop for coffees, lattes, charcuterie, homemade breakfast, lunches, hearty soups, breads, custom cakes, Italian desserts, dog treats and then some.
I personally will be continuing cakes and dessert orders on the side around mine and my sons schedule. I want to be present for this young man in the best way a mom can, yet still bring you the best cakes and desserts you know and love. At this time this will be extended to current clients, friends, and family and I will not be accepting new customers at this time.
On the savory and eats side - there are some good things happening in the works. You will get to grab a panini or meatball sub or homemade soup again. When we’re ready, we’ll share that with you.
Again, our last day is this Saturday, May 31st. For those who are on our books with scheduled orders, we will contact you accordingly.
Thank you for everything. We love and appreciate you more than words can say.
