🚂 So… What Is This Adventure We Keep Talking About?

A few people have asked, “Where are you going?”

The honest answer is… we don't know yet! 😂

Mark says he wants a trip just like our last big adventure. I try to go along with him because I love seeing him excited about traveling, but truthfully, that last trip was hard. A lot of miles and a lot of driving is getting more difficult for both of us.

So this time, I'm dreaming about doing things a little differently.

Maybe we can find someone who would like to ride along and help with the driving. Maybe we could take a train—something I've always wanted to experience—and spend some time sightseeing in West Virginia. ❤️

Or maybe we'll fly and then take a couple of shorter road trips while visiting family and friends.

When? Probably spring. 🌷

So why the cake countdown? 🎂

Because Mark needs something he can see.

Some days he understands the plan and thinks it's a great idea. Other days he thinks it's a completely ridiculous idea. 😂 Some days he thinks it's already spring and he's ready to start packing!

And there are days when he thinks we still live in Damascus, Maryland, so going to West Virginia seems like it should be no big deal. ❤️

That's our reality right now.

Life is complicated, and dementia makes keeping time, distance and plans straight even harder. So I'm learning to find little things that make sense in his world.

The cake countdown gives Mark a visual reminder:

➡️ And hopefully, another adventure together.

I don't know exactly where we'll end up yet.
I just know I want to keep making memories with him while we can. ❤️
