Your city council has failed to listen to public input and reversed it’s decision to put in a bid to Baker County and maintain your fire department’s full response ability. The city manager says after laying off half the firefighters available to respond somehow we’ll have MORE firefighters available. That just doesn’t math.
Councilors Dean Guyer, Joanna Dixon, Johnny Waggoner Sr and Kenyon Damschen made the vote and let Baker citizens down. LESS IS NEVER MORE.

City Council will discuss their proposal to the county at the regular meeting tomorrow, Tuesday May 24th, 7pm. Without a solid and reasonable proposal to work hand in hand with Baker County, we stand to lose the level of service our citizens expect from us. Please show up tomorrow and let your voice be heard. “Do not cut public safety!”

Standing room only as citizens pack Baker City Hall to “Stand Up for Safety and Save Our Firefighters and Ambulance Service”

Thank you to the community of Baker for supporting your Baker City Firefighters at our city council meeting this week. The Baker City Council voted 5-0 to submit a proposal to the County Commisioners to continue ambulance service and retain firefighter staffing. City Manager Cannon is not making decisions in the best interest of the community and your firefighters will continue to fight for the safety of our citizens. Safety and service will continue to be our mission for the community we work and live in. We applaud the city council for moving forward with a proposal and encourage that they continue to work collaboratively with our firefighters and County Commisioners to advocate for the citizens.
