So awesome watching 2 young farmers grow and flourish in this industry, such a shame to see people discouraging it. 😡

Ever wonder what that loud “boom” is out in the fields? 🌽💥

That’s our bird cannon at work!

A bird cannon is a propane-powered device that makes a loud booming noise at timed intervals. The sound helps scare birds away from our crops—especially sweet corn—before they have a chance to cause damage.

While it may sound alarming if you haven’t heard one before, it’s completely safe. There are no projectiles, fireworks, or explosions involved. It simply releases a small amount of propane that creates a loud bang, encouraging birds to find somewhere else to snack.

We also want to address a situation we’ve been dealing with recently. We’ve had repeated calls made to the Sheriff’s Office regarding the bird cannon, as well as people driving by our home to report our dogs. We understand that not everyone is familiar with normal farming practices, and we’re always happy to answer respectful questions.

However, repeated non-emergency calls and complaints use valuable time and resources from our local law enforcement officers—resources that could be spent responding to people with genuine emergencies who need help.

We appreciate everyone who supports local agriculture and understands that farming comes with unique sights, sounds, and challenges. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for supporting local farmers as we work hard to grow fresh produce for our community. 🌽🚜❤️
