13 years ago today, during SxSW, we opened this little trailer at 2nd and Congress (Hi JWMarriott!).

Today, one of our regulars who’s been coming since trailer days, stopped by to tell me he’s going home to NYC, but that he wanted to say how much he appreciates Patika and the space that we’ve been for him during his Austin life. It gave me goose bumps.

Creating something in the world is weird; intense, mostly fun, almost always stressful… and you get these incredibly rewarding moments. And you’re ready to do it all again tomorrow.

Thank you all for being a part of us being here.

Patika South Lamar turns 8 this month, and you’re invited to a little happy hour on Friday from 5-7pm.

It’s been an amazing 8 years. Designs and buildouts and construction and dogs. Openings and parties and weddings. Gay marriage happened (but no gay weddings…yet!). Trump happened. A pandemic happened. More dogs. This neighborhood and Austin have been so incredibly warm to us, we can hardly stand it.

Getting to know y’all-Patikans, customers, suppliers, friends-has been the highlight of our lives. We’re gonna keep doing what we’ve been doing, and we hope y’all continue to like it.

We’re celebrating our 8th anniversary this month at our South Lamar location, and it’s gotten us remembering early trailer days downtown.

It’s been a sometimes overwhelming experience getting to know the Austin community over twelve years, being a part of your lives, and you being a part of ours.

Moments of rosé in the parking lot. Parties in the park. Underwear photo shoots. That time the pope visited. Shadows of friends who left us before it was right. (Out of) Office meetings.

Thank you for an incredible 12 years. We’re looking forward to being here with y’all for a long while yet.
