Behind the Sugar

Family is everything to me. What started out as something fun to do with my mom, learning from the best, has now turned into a little business. My mom has always made special desserts for my family, whether it be a birthday, or a simple Sunday night with my dad’s famous words after dinner, “Linda, what’s for dessert?” I used to love making dessert with my mom and having my dad “taste test”, to make sure it was okay to serve to everyone else.

When I was trying to decide on a name for this new venture, I remembered what started me out on my baking journey, family. To my family, I’m not Elizabeth or Liz, I’m Esie. That’s a name that my oldest niece gave me 18 years ago, and it stuck - and I love that!

With the help of my mom, and of course my daughter, Isabella, I’m continuing down this baking journey. And every time I whip up a dessert, I always think about what my dad would say, “this is awe-some!”
