KID ONE

For Kid One, the mission is simple: transport children and expectant mothers to necessary health care services. Kid One does serve Lee county. In fact, in 2025 they provided over 135 transports to Lee county children needing transportation to pediatrician appointments, counseling appointments, eye doctor appointments, dentist appointments, treatments for critical and/or chronic illnesses, as well as physical and occupational therapy. Some of the children were transported to service providers right there in Lee county. Others required support at Children’s in Birmingham. They provided support for both the short and long-distance needs. Our donation would specifically help cover the cost of fuel for the transports in Lee County only. It is costing an average of $55 per transport for gas, and with the rising price of fuel right now, any help you can provide would allow us to continue to do our mission. Today, Kid One operates a fleet of 21 vehicles serving 43 counties throughout Alabama. At its inception, Kid One consisted of one man, one van, and a vision for making access to health care a reality for children in need across this state. That vision remains the cornerstone of Kid One today. Accepting the donation for Kid One is Kaylie Rasteger, Relations Coordinator.

CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE/Student Food Pantry

Much like Auburn University, there are students who live on limited resources and from time to time need a little extra help to make their college life easier. Chattahoochee Valley Community College has a food pantry similar to that at Auburn University. Being a small college in our area and easily accessible to college age students and adults, Lee County, Auburn and Opelika are well represented in the student body at Chattahoochee Valley. As with the donation we previously gave to Auburn University Student Food Pantry, our donation will go toward the food pantry at CVCC to purchase non-perishable food items, ready to eat meals as well as personal hygiene products. Accepting the donation for the Student Food Pantry at CVCC is Dr. Sherri Taylor.

March was a huge month for orders and another month where we made more new friends by donating to three nonprofits. Read all about them here:
THE DAILY BREAD PROJECT - A newly formed community supported food outreach serving the Opelika/Auburn areas. Meals are prepared and plated, food donations are distributed in the Auburn/Opelika area, basic hygiene items are distributed. The long term goal is to have a designated space where individuals can eat, fellowship and receive additional support. Daily Bread Project is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization. Accepting the donation for The Daily Bread Project is Jamal Smith and Elexius Smith.

CAMPUS FOOD PANTRY - The Campus Food Pantry provides free food and toiletry items to Auburn University students experiencing food insecurity. Any currently enrolled student experiencing food insecurity can use the Campus Food Pantry. Accepting the donation on behalf of Campus Food Pantry is Jenny Timms.

THE EAH PSYCHIATRY PATIENT ASSISTANCE FUND – The EAMC North – the newly built Center for Mental Health has opened, giving hope and increasing access to care. Being a new facility, there are many needs that can be met and the donation of ST. Dun’s Buns will sure help in those needs. The EAH Psychiatry Patient Assistants Fund will assist in purchasing some much-needed items to stock the new Psychiatry center such as age appropriate books, recreational equipment, clothing for adults and adolescents, suitcases and duffle bags and personal items to make a patient’s room feel like their own. Our donation may be just the HOPE SOMEONE IS WAITING FOR.

And is so often the case, donations for the next month just drop in my lap. I already have 3 nonprofits for April. THANKS BE TO GOD.

REACH RESPITE ASSISTANCE
“Refresh, Encourage, Activities, Care, Hope) A volunteer-driven community ministry that provides joyful, short-term respite care every week for adults living with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, dementia, or memory loss – offering engaging activities, music, social interaction, exercise and a nutritious meal – while giving their caregivers essential time to rest, recharge and care for themselves. Accepting the donation for REACH are Sarah Jones, Michell Turberville and Beth Yarbrough.

THE GOOD OLE BOYS SOCIAL CLUB A group formed in 1997, the Good Ole Boys believe that brotherhood carries responsibility – not only to one another but the entire community. The Club was established on principles of unity, service, integrity and a genuine love for people. From the beginning, the club as stood as a quiet but powerful force for good, helping to bridge racial divides, uplift families and invest in the future of young people. Although some of the original founders of the Club have passed on, the remaining members continue to uphold the values upon which the club was built. They are actively involved in the community serving those in need and carrying forward the spirit of brotherhood, service and love that has defined The Good Ole Boys Social Club for nearly three decades. Recently, the Club received the 2026 Dream Achievers Award given by the Dream Day Foundation every year on Martin Luther King Day in February. Accepting the donation for the Good Ole Boys Social Club are Jack Robinson, Enoch Betts and Johnny Ivey.

COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY:
The Compassionate Community is a group of women in the Auburn community who work to provide food and other resources to those in need in their community. A recent example was a warm-winter clothing drive for children in the Hispanic community, given our recent cold weather. They work to fill the gaps that may occur, providing crucial food and supplies in a rapid and timely manner. Accepting the donation were members of the Compassionate Community.
