Tonight we celebrated my mom’s birthday with dinner at Josie's Mexican American Bar & Grill, and I just wanted to take a moment to give them a well-deserved shout-out.
We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and everyone made us feel so welcome.
What made the evening extra special was when our server, who happens to be the owner’s daughter-in-law, came over and introduced herself. She told me she recognized me from Facebook and follows my bakery page. She said she didn’t want to seem weird, but she wanted to come say hello to “Chef Krista.” It honestly made my night.
As small business owners, we pour so much of ourselves into our work, and sometimes we don’t realize how many people are quietly supporting and cheering us on. Her kindness meant more than she probably knows.
After dinner, James headed back over with some cupcakes for the staff as a small thank you. We know firsthand how hard family-owned businesses work. At Swirlz, we’re a family operation too. James helps with deliveries, our daughter Kaelyn has started working with me after school, and will for the summer, and we’re all working together toward the same goal.
It was just really heartwarming to see another family-run business recognize and support another local family-run business. That’s the kind of community spirit that makes me proud to live and work here.
Thank you to everyone at Josie’s for helping make my mom’s birthday such a wonderful evening. We appreciate you! ❤️
