You may have noticed that we went full force on baking this summer. Definitely ramped it up compared to previous summers. This year we were baking with a goal.
I have 3 adult children, and their dad died in April of this year. The cost of his funeral thankfully was paid for by generous donations with the remainder being paid for by his best friend.
The best times that the kids had with their dad was when he was at the beach with them. He would be sober for that week, and soaked up every minute of time with them. He was the best version of himself that week.
Per his wishes, the kids decided to spread his ashes in NC. I didn't want the burden to fall on any one kid, so I asked the girls if they wanted to help bake this summer and any profits that were made, would go towards whatever was needed. So, for the past 8 weeks, that's what we've done. We get little to no sleep from Wednesday night until after delivery on Friday.
The 3 of us have laughed, sung, danced, and only growled at each other once. We've baked ALOT!! Probably close to 400 pans of goodies. I'm going to be cleaning flour and powdered sugar out of crevices in my kitchen forever!!
We were going to squeeze in one more marathon baking week before we leave Friday night, but we all decided we were exhausted. So, we're just going to take this week to get our bags packed and relax ish.
That's a long post to say thank you for helping my kids say goodbye to their dad.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!! You'll never know what it means to me, to us.
