New recipe drop! A decadent cream cheese stuffed French toast made from our cinnamon raisin bread. Drizzled with a balsamic and honey reduction. It's important to use a high quality balsamic vinegar in this.
Blissful Stuffed French Toast with Balsamic Syrup
Ingredients
Balsamic Syrup:
½ cup balsamic vinegar
½ cup honey
French Toast:
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch kosher salt
1 cup whole milk
4 one inch thick slices Blissful Buns and Bread cinnamon raisin bread
Powdered sugar (to garnish)
Cream Cheese Filling
¼ cup (50g) sugar
4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
½ teaspoon of vanilla
Directions
Balsamic Syrup: Combine vinegar and honey in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thick and syrupy, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
Cream Cheese Filling: Combine the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Using a hand or stand mixer with a flat be**er, beat mixture until smooth and creamy.
French Toast: Whisk together eggs, vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and milk.
Slice 4 one inch slices of raisin bread. Slice the slices in half most of the way down, leaving a ½ inch so the two halves stay attached.
Spread ¼ of the cream cheese mixture in between each slice of the bread, leaving ½ inch of space around it.
Soak slices of bread in egg mixture for a few seconds on each side. Set the soaked slices aside on a parchment lined sheet tray for at least 30 minutes to allow the egg mixture to distribute throughout the bread.
On a griddle or in a frying pan brown the French toast in butter, over medium heat. Set one or two slices on each plate and dust with a little powdered sugar. Drizzle with balsamic syrup and serve.
