What’s the motivation & story behind our business?
As a child my grandmother would be in charge of baking the desserts for the holidays. Me at the time I was so young but, loved the kitchen. I would literally sit in front of the oven, admiring how the cakes would rise. My grandmother & I had this thing, she would give me small do able tasks then later reward me with the ultimate satisfaction ( the mixing bowl ). I would literally indulge in the cake batter residue. I would have it everywhere my face, hair, hands & lips.
Once the cakes where complete just before the family would get a chance to devour them, I would take two fingers & run them along the top of the cake. Lol! ( don’t ask why, I was young & loved my grandmothers cakes. ) While they enjoyed their slices, she would brag telling the whole family how I was the best helper!
As time moved forward, my grandmother became very ill. So ill that it hindered a lot but, by this time I was a dessert pro! One year she told me “ E, it’s all on you this year!” & I was determined to make her proud & satisfy the family with a sweet treat, that had my grandmothers touch.
Once she passed in 2015, it was years before I could fathom the thought of simply mixing the ingredients together, let alone make anyone happy with such a strong remembrance of her. However, in 2018 while working for an Senior Care Facility, I wanted to bring the residents joy, smiles & comfort with food.
I gathered my strengths, tears & thoughts & talked to my heavenly angel the whole way through, praying the cakes wouldn’t fall & become a complete disaster. Surprisingly they came out great! So great that every year it became my signature “ thing “.
So know when it comes to Beulah Mae's Sweet Treats not only is it authentic & homemade, it’s made with so much love!
