Ferret bites everyone but me
I’ve had my girl for about 2 years now and my boy for about a year and a half. My boy in the sweetest floppiest noodle and loves everyone. But my girl only likes me. When I first went to petco to get my girl (I know I don’t support buying them from petco anymore but I didn’t at first, I made sure to rescue my boy) they said she had been there the longest, there had already been 2 or 3 batches of ferrets come through and she was the only one left through all of them, so I felt really bad. I picked her up, and she kissed my face for like a minute straight and I was like yup, I’m taking her. The whole car ride home she just sat on my shoulder and never bit me. I was with my mom when we got her but she hadn’t held her yet. The second we got home I sat her on the ground to explore, she went straight to my mom and bit her foot so bad she was dripping blood for probably 8 minutes or so, it was a pretty bad bite. I was super caught of guard but thought maybe it was just the stress of a new place. I let her explore some more and put her in the cage for the night. Got up the next morning, let her out, and the same thing happened again. The first 3 months or so of having her where great and then all the sudden she did start biting me occasionally but never enough to draw blood, I used ferret biting training techniques and they never worked, but one day she just stopped, after I had already given up and stopped using the training techniques. Now she only bites my feet if they are in a sock or under blankets (again never hard enough to draw blood, but she will kiss my face for hours if I let her, she loves licking me. What’s really weird is that I can even play rough with her but she never bites hard even when shes in full play mode. But everyone else In my life is a no no, if they look in her direction at all she will bite there lip and you can’t hardly pry her off, and same thing with arms, hands, legs, etc. I’ve showed all of them some biting techniques to maybe help but nothing has helped and it’s been over a year now. I just don’t know why she’s like this. She follows me everywhere I go but she doesn’t seem like she hates everyone else because she will follow them too, or climb up there pant legs to get up somewhere, but she hates being held by anybody but me. Sorry for the whole essay, just trying to give as much an explanation as possible so yall can maybe help a little more?
