One last post..... Heartland Deli is officially over, the equipment and building is sold, the girls have all found another place to work, and I am doing the next best thing.....enjoying moments as Nana. We had a large turnout for the sale, and are grateful for the people who came. And some came by just to say hello, which meant so much to my heart!!! Not naming names because I fear of missing one in this moment and realize it only after posting.... I managed to keep tears from falling down the cheeks, although several times, they gathered in my eyes. I genuinely miss all the people I have come to know, to love, and to bake for. Making sandwiches, small talk..... I miss it. Yet being Nana is very special and I am grateful that I can spend this time with our children and grandchildren. πŸ₯° Arthur First Bank has been our next door neighbor, literally. Only a firewall separated our businesses. When we baked, they could smell bakery items. When Lynetta burned her pretzel, they smelled that and came over to make sure there was no fire. When we installed the dipping well, the sound brought them to our door to make sure we were okay. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ they truly were close neighbors πŸ˜„ they purchased the building at the auction. πŸ‘ the keys will be handed over at the closing soon....
Saturday evening, Jenny gave me one last gift from my girls..... a board signed by all "my girls". Oh yes, tears..... I loved having these girls in my life, loved having them work with me, and they each hold a special place in my heart..... it took a bit to get the signatures as several live out of state now. Thanks you, my girls, for putting up with all the crazy of me being Mama Julie....πŸ˜†πŸ₯°πŸ€— memories remain....
And pictures of those that call me Nana..πŸ₯° there is something about the grandkids that just get the heart like I never knew could happen. (Hence the sign that hubby bought me).... our oldest grandson will be 5 next week (where oh where has 5 years gone?!?). Then there is the new big sister (trying to do photo shoot;you can tell she is cooperating, right??🀣🀣 sass on first, then cooperation) that is 18 months, the new grandson born this week, and then there is Miss Blake, a year old. JP and Taylor just have a choice but to let me claim her as she loves her Nana, right? She loves her real grandparents, I know, but we get the blessing of being another set of people that get to love on her. My covering almost didn't fit the day that she did not want her mom, nor Minerva, she wanted Nana. Gotta just love her....πŸ₯° and looking forward to her baby sibling due in May as well..... then there is another 3 babies due to join us soon .... Nana heart is so happy to have more Littles to love!! πŸ’•
Life is busy even when I am no longer at the bakery, and I am forever grateful for the 3 years of being there. I met wonderful people, had wonderful girls to work with me, and there have been many blessings in those short years. Thank you, friends, for stopping by, for supporting us in our small business..... know you have made a difference in my life...
So this is goodbye to my "letters" on Facebook, and goodbye to Heartland Deli..... May you find your life is blessed in more ways than you can ever imagine πŸ’• Mama Julie and the Heartland Girls.....

My mind is going through various emotions.... sad, grateful, excited, then sad... the tears did hold off til I seen the empty building.... yet I know God has a vision that I can't fully see.... I am grateful for family and friends helping us bring the sale to fruitation; excited for the people that have contacted us about equipment, the building, or just planning on coming to say hi. This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to see several of our former regular customers and it was such a joy just to say hi and chat for a moment....πŸ₯°πŸ₯° so I have pictures of moving, of the auction site setup, and the empty building.... sharing a bit of our last leg of the journey..... I hope to do one more post after the sale and then that will be the end..... until then, our friends, may your days be blessed with the unexpected!!! ~ Heartland Girls

Well, it is officially a public auction and sale bills are being printed. The sale starts at 9 am with the building with the freezer unit, cooler unit, and the built in storage beside the freezer will sell with the building- and that sells at 12:00 noon. The gray storage unit sells separately with the buyer moving at their expense. We will be in the south building of the Otto Center.
If you are able to stop by, please be sure to say hello to Jenny amd myself. I dont know how many of the other girls will be there, but we will be. There is also the 3rd Saturday market happening in the north building of the Otto Center, so you can also take part in that as well when you stop by.
I heard something on Monday that has really stuck in my mind, and you know I like inspiration. This has inspired me, still inspiring me 5 days later. THERE WILL BE GOOD DAYS & THERE WILL BE BAD DAYS, BUT THEY ARE ALL GOD'S DAYS. On good days, celebrate God. On bad days, trust God. I find this quite humbling because when someone asks me how I am feeling, my answer can vary.....today is a good day, am enjoying it as I feel good.....today isn't such a good day, health just isn't so good as another day..... but you know, it's still a day given to us to make a difference to someone. Be the reason someone smiles today - even if it's a "bad" day....😊 πŸ’• ~ Julie

It's been a while since I posted but this morning, my heart has had a wide range of emotions.... (are you gonna call me emotional?!?πŸ˜†)
Our morning started out with meeting with Gingerich and Associates....the business and building have not sold yet, so we are planning a liquidation sale at Otto Center (south building) on March 18, 2023. As I have processed this thought over the last week, it has brought me to tears more than you really wanna know. I miss "our people ". And so far, no one has stepped forward that will experience that joy of connecting with some of the most amazing people I know....
Speaking of amazing people...❀ following the meeting, I had the blessed opportunity to meet one of our regular customers, Ryan, and his daughter. Larisa stopped by with cinnamon rolls that she made, as well as a peach cobbler(!) and a rolling pin engraved with Heartland Deli...this young lady is amazing!! (She has more talents than just baking too!) Larisa, the rolls were perfect (yep, I tried them!) It tastes just like Jenny or I would have made them!! πŸ« πŸ˜‹ (melting in the goodness of the roll).... I had the amazing privilege to get to know them a bit more about them as a family, and it made me realize how blessed I have been! I have gotten to know people, more than just a smile and a hello....I have people that have touched our hearts and are more than just a customer.... this was the heart of what we did at Heartland Deli.... Thank you, Ryan and Larisa, for stopping by. It truly was a pleasure!!!
In personal life, my health still has ups and downs. The last test revealed that what the doctor thought I may have....well, it isn't Cystic Fibrosis. And that's a good thing. He did give me some protocol that has made a difference; now we just to get to the next step (tests) to figure out what is going on instead.... but the best news??? We shall be blessed with 3 new grandbabies by the end of July!! Actually 4, because the Lulek family is expecting a baby as well, and since our daughter babysits for Miss Blake, she is "our granddaughter" and baby Lulek will also be our grandchild! Oh how blessed it feels to know there are 4 new little faces, fingers, and toes joining our family starting in March through July!! Beyond "our people" at the deli, being Nana brings the greatest joy to my heart!! πŸ₯°
Keep watch for updates on the sale, and if you have a chance, please stop by and say hello when you are at the sale..... we would love to see familiar faces again!!! Hhhmmmm, I always signed off as the Heartland Girls, but that no longer applies πŸ˜”, so I will sign off with a thought....
May you find it as the saying below..everything happens for a reason, even when it hurts. But faith brings you through no matter the season you find yourself in.... πŸ’•

I said no tears til after close on Wednesday, but it didn't work.... although we closed our doors until the new owners reopen, these last 3 days were filled with many memories....bittersweet.... I am so going to miss "my customers", "my girls ", the fun, the chats with customers, and the hugs. Truly, this has been a short 3 years.... these are pictures of present and past, just a recap for a bit... the board Jenny got for me that customers got to sign (gonna hang it on my wall at home-), our boys, Lucas and Andrew, our bestest pretzel customers!!! And then it's the girls, Glenda, Pauline, Louise, Rosanna with Myles and Bridget, Jada, Lynetta, "little" Julie (because I am Mama Julie!!πŸ˜†), Lisa, and I am missing a picture of Mom (washing dishes faithfully at 93 years young), Lori, Minerva, and Michelle.... only 2 of these are my girls, but they all became my girls.... then there is the sisters and family and friends that pitched in at at extra busy times...,Darrell and Lorene Helmuth, Lewis, Verna, and Ruth Otto, Edwin, Julie, and Janessa Miller, Roseanna Bontreger, Sharon Miller, Eli and Annie Marie Yoder (Joseph's parents), Kate and Wilma, Rose Miller.... if i missed anyone, I am sorry. But the biggest thanks goes to my parents, Olen and Chris Herschberger. They partnered in this adventure with us 3 years ago. They believed in us and chose to enjoy the ride, even if there are bumps.... although physical help wasn't nearly always possible, their endless support and love has been a blessing beyond words....
Thank you, family and friends, customers that became more than customers (first name basis and when you walk in, we know what you want, we get to know you and your families....you are the heart of what we do...).... for this joy ride in our lives. I am forever grateful and blessed...
I will post new owners on this site as soon as I can. Stay tuned for updates.... until then, may you and your families enjoy every moment you can with each other. Enjoy the little things, the little moments of every day. Because at the end of our lives, it's all those little that make it all worthwhile...πŸ’• ~ The Heartland Girls πŸ‘©β€πŸ³
