After nearly 70 wonderful years, we closed our bakery doors for the last time yesterday.
The past few weeks have been emotional, humbling, and filled with so much love. We’ve had the honor of seeing so many of you come through our doors one last time — sharing memories, giving hugs, bringing flowers, heartfelt cards, and yes… even incredibly generous tips. We’ve always known our customers were special, but you truly showed us how much this little bakery meant to the community.

Your kindness reminded us that this bakery has been more than just a place for cakes, cookies and pastries — it’s been a part of the community, a part of your daily lives, your celebrations, and your traditions.

From the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU for the love, the support, and are honored for allowing us to be part of your lives for so many years. We will never forget it. 💛

When we announced our retirement, we never expected this. So many comments, stories, and heartfelt messages—it’s more than we can keep up with, and we are so very touched. ❤️❤️
Arroyo Grande Bakery has always been more than a business—it’s been a second home, a gathering place, and a memory-maker. It has always been more than just flour and sugar—it’s been about people, community, and heart. We’re hopeful someone will step in to carry the torch, because traditions like this one deserve to go on. We really do pray that the right person comes along to keep that spirit alive ❤️

❤️An important update from Arroyo Grande Bakery❤️

After serving this amazing community since 1989, Marc and Chris made the difficult decision to retire at the end of September. This is something that we’ve thought very long and hard about and it’s not a decision we’ve made lightly. The bakery has been our life and a HUGE part of who we are for so many years.

Arroyo Grande Bakery has been more than just a bakery — it’s been a part of your birthdays, weddings, holidays, and everyday moments. We’re incredibly grateful for every customer who walked through our doors, shared a memory, or supported us through the years. You’ve truly become part of our extended family. This bakery has been our heart and soul — and part of yours — since 1956. 🥧💛.

After nearly 70 years on the Central Coast, (with Chris being here since 1979!) we’ve come to the realization that operating a full service bakery day in and day out is becoming more and more challenging as we get older. With that in mind, we have made the decision to retire. It is time for us to spend more time with our families.

The good news? The bakery is currently up for sale, and we would love to see it continue on in the hands of someone who shares the same passion and love for baking and community. We hope someone in our amazing community might want to carry on this delicious legacy. If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out.
