There are so many new people here and I wanted to take a moment to say hi, and introduce the face behind Lisa's Bakery. If you all could leave a comment and let me know where you are from and what is your favorite cookie or dessert I would love to get to know you!
I am from Arkport, originally from Almond, NY and have 2 beautiful teenage girls. I have been baking Christmas cookies for family and friends since 2014, but my love for baking goes way back further than that. I was always pulling out my mom's cookbooks from the time I was probably 7 or 8 maybe younger, I had my own little recipe box and would always be finding a new dessert to try, sometimes even dinner to surprise my family with!
I always knew I wanted my own business, as I got older I still had a love for baking and also a love for weddings and parties. I thought maybe I would go into event planning or catering. When I applied for college they recommended that I take the business courses first then go on for Culinary. I went to Alfred State then on to Alfred Univeristy and received my Bachelors in Business Administration. Well life kinda happened and I had my 2 girls while going to college, got a job and I ended up not going to Culinary school, but my love of baking always remained.
It all kinda started one year at Christmas when my Grandma asked me to bake her some cutouts as she saw how much time I had put into decorating them and she didn't have a lot of time to make them that year. That stuck with me, I always loved making cutouts and wanted to help others who don't have the time around the holidays to make them. I've always been self taught in baking and decorating, so although mine aren't the fanciest cookies out there they are always homeade with lots of love and I'm always learning new things.
In 2020 my daughter said I needed a page to grown my business and created this page for me. She just called it Lisa's Bakery and it worked, but after talking with someone a few weeks ago who was retiring she gave me some great advice and insight and asked me about my vision and what I wanted for my business. Funny thing is I thought I knew and I also realized I was trying to broaden too much to try and serve everyone instead of sticking to what was working. She said start with a name and that night I immediately went home and created a vision for myself that was far different than what I originally planned but I am so excited for a new name change and new changes to come. I will be posting really soon my new name and vision with you all and will most likely be creating a new page so I hope you will follow me as I transition into my new name, while still keeping many of the same goodies you love.
Stay tuned and thank you all for all your love and support and for helping me grow my business and this page! ~ Lisa Summers
