Nobody likes a wimpy muffin.

Aunt Kay's Jumbo Muffins stand strong when it comes to size and flavor. Eight varieties and all winners. What one are you in the mood for?

Lots of fresh bananas give this jumbo muffin lots of flavor while maintaining the light crumb of a classic muffin. The simple streusel topping provides a satisfyingly sweet finish.

Baking Bread Two Loaves at a Time

What makes a loaf of bread from Aunt Kay's so unique? It starts with making just two loaves at a time. No mass production here. We start fresh with each small batch, giving every step in the process the kind of attention you only get from a true artisanal baker. After careful measurements, mixing, raising and kneading, each loaf is then hand-shaped and placed in a well-loved stoneware bread pan. The result of this much care is a delightful loaf that is well-worth the modest investment for flavor, texture and palate-pleasing enjoyment.

And our bread varieties are fairly unique as well. Which one will become your favorite?

A time to pause and reflect.

May we all take the time today to ponder with grateful hearts the many lives given in sacrifice to the freedoms we enjoy.

We just returned from a little Spring getaway and enjoyed taking in the dazzling and well-curated displays at the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati. We highly recommend a visit if you are in that area!

Speaking of signs, this message could be considered a sign that it's time to enjoy some of Aunt Kay's home-baked goodies this week. The oven is ready to go and we'd be happy to serve up your favorites. Simply place an order today and we'll get it ready for you. The weather looks promising for a Pop-Up Bakery this Saturday, too!

Your Favorite Neighborhood Baker!

Every Spring our neighborhood comes alive with flowers, green foliage, birds and people walking the sidewalks. We seem to always be welcoming new people to the neighborhood at our Saturday morning Pop-Up Bakery. We're sharing the Homes.com video once again as a way of reminding everyone what a blessing our neighborhood is and that we're here to make it just a bit sweeter for everyone who lives here or stops by.

You gotta try this!

Everyone knows how awesome Aunt Kay's Cinnamon Rolls (https://square.link/u/O4lJvnu8) are right out of the box. What folks might not know is a simple extra step that can take it to another dimension.

From 1935 to 1993 Drake's Sandwich Shop was an iconic eatery for students at The University of Michigan here in Ann Arbor. Located at 709 N University just off State St and facing the Diag, it was not only a memorable hangout, but also featured an eclectic menu of homemade soups and offbeat sandwiches. Drake's was also known for taking the pecan rolls and cinnamon buns from Quality Bakery (another lost gem on Main St.) and searing them on their flat top grill.

Mary Lu Barth, a U-M student from the late 60s/early 70s, recollects her time inside this classic coffee shop, "I have the fondest memories of Drakes, sitting in one of the booths savoring my favorite treat, their cinnamon roll! They would slice it in half between the top and the bottom, butter each half, and put them on the grill just long enough to lightly brown the roll and warm it up! Ah, heaven! It was the best way ever to spend an hour!”

She describes the process well and we share it below in pictures. Since we 'had' to devour the grilled roll after taking these pictures, we can vouch for how absolutely heavenly it tastes. The slightly crisp surface backed by a warm and soft interior is a delightful sensation.

For us, it recalls our many visits to the Roxy Cafe (https://www.facebook.com/roxycafejackson.mi/) at 606 N West Ave in nearby Jackson where a grilled cinnamon roll is a staple on their diner menu. Kudos to the Roxy for keeping this favorite treat available to all who seek it out.

Yet now you also know how to do it up yourself. Simply order our Deluxe Cinnamon Roll (https://square.link/u/O4lJvnu8) or Pecan Cinnamon Roll (https://checkout.square.site/merchant/MLXYTRCNGYX0C/checkout/PYIMU46CBJJ5RCPI7CE4BRSC) (mix-and-match 4-packs available) for pick up or delivery and then get out the butter and grill (or fry pan). Stop by our Pop-Up Bakery this Saturday, May 9 and you can pickup up your rolls and other goodies right from our side yard canopy at 1901 Arlene St. We'll be open from 9am to 12 noon!
