Over the weekend, I had a cake order I delivered to an event. I've made lots of 2 tier cakes and never had any structural issues, even with delivering 2 hours away. But 2 days later, I wake up to people bashing my business over several issues.
1 being a cost increase, which never happened. The lady who ordered had mistakenly ordered from 2 bakeries (mine included) and was given a $65 quote for an 8 inch one tier cake. Mine was for a 2 tier and quoted for $110. I was asked to make a naked cake with a pink drip and that is what I made. I tried to work with her, in finding the other baker she had ordered from and even offered for them to choose that baker as it was more cost effective for them. I did not want her stuck with 2 cakes. Her husband tried to see if she wanted to fix the issue but she did not want to work with me.
2 was that the cake had fallen. When I delivered the cake, there did not seem to be any structural issues. I'm not sure what happened to the cake. Once the cake is delivered, i have no way to make sure it isnt mishandled in the process. It could have been due to a number of things. Unfortunately, buttercream will melt if left out for long periods of time or if the temperature is too warm. I had supports in the bottom teir and a dowel going through the whole cake, so the upper teir wouldn't shift. However, mistakes do happen and if there was an error on my part, I do apologize. I have not been contacted to rectify this situation by the buyer to discuss any of these issues, only bashed on multiple sites from family members.
