We're coming to the end of the season and the end of an era. At the end of this month, Rural Uprising Bakery will be put to rest.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported Rural Uprising these last four years, especially Lonely Oak Farm, Liberation Farmers, and The Village Hive - Bakery and Local Foods Collective for providing the bakery with a home, Primitive Provider for instigating my foray into tortilla making, Meadowlark Organics, Great River Organic Flour Milling Company, Century Sun Oil LLC, and Stevens Point Area Co-op for providing my operation with local organic ingredients, Shel Bot for never getting sick of eating tacos and burritos, Lori Madden and Geno Madden for always supporting my interests, and of course all of my customers who fed themselves and their families with the staple foods made by my hands.
There is so much more I could say here, but for now let me leave it at this. In the spirit of continuing the movement, I will be giving away sourdough starter, as well as sourdough bread and tortilla recipes with detailed instructions at the Stevens Point Summer Farmers Market. With these you can become bakers for the Uprising yourselves.
Rural Uprising Bakery has had a great run and I am excited to be diving into other endeavors.
Thanks again.
I'll see you at the market.
Cole V. Madden.
PS: There are efforts currently underway to keep locally made flour and corn tortillas available to our community. Keep 'yer eyes and ears open.
