Juneteenth was a vibe with New York Life Insurance Company in New York! Uncle Dave's Cookies was invited as a chosen vendor in their showcase of black businesses and entrepreneurs.

We brought our lil bits of hope: chocolate hunk, oaty but goody, pudding it on thick, strawbaby shorti, and it's like peanut butter chocolate chunks.

We were well recieved, left with 0 cookies. They turned up, corporate style 😉, and did a remarkable job honoring the holiday, its history, and legacy.

Afterwards, we went to Times Square. We were too close not to stop by and join in a little of the shenanigans, excitement, and food.

As always, I'm grateful for the doors and opportunities and the new people who join the Uncle Dave's Cookies family. 🙌🏾

I amaze myself 🤤

Every time I taste one of my cookies, I literally want to break out in dance because what!? I did that? I mean...I baked that!!

Yes, I did. I learned how to bake in one of the darkest times in my life but honey, it brought all the light I needed to keep going.

It's not how you start. It's how you keep going and finish!

I had no idea how to properly mix flour, sugar, and eggs to bake a cookie. I thought, "It's a cookie. How hard can it be?" 😳

Listen, don't ever minimize a skill that you can't do because someone else does it so well, you think you can do it, too.

I got in the kitchen almost everyday for two months until my chocolate chip cookies stopped looking like chocolate chip pancakes.

I had to learn the science behind baking and not solely master a recipe but understand how the ingredients work together.

I kept mixing and testing until I reached the desired texture and taste, I imagined.

You want thicker cookies, increase baking powder, Cornstarch, chill or freeze. Use a lower fat to flour ratio.

You want thinner cookies - use warm butter, higher fat ratio to sugar (& flour).

Don't give up! Keep testing, trying, studying, and perfecting.

I wandered in the baking space during the most painful moments of grief and I am staying here because I found love and a community of big stuffed cookie lovers who are living life everyday while missing the ones they love.
