No sound from this MK2 JCM 800. I was tasked with diagnosing the issues. The power tubes were all visually burnt and two can capacitors were leaking. The tubes hadn’t been changed since 1983. So now it needs quite a bit of work to bring back up to spec. Unfortunately, That’s going to wait for another day.

Very nice Vox Ac 15 in for service. The two input jacks were replaced as well as the tubes. It’s loaded with a Celestion Green Back and it sounds amazing.

Initial testing revealed a learning experience. A few inexpensive blown parts. I’ve got better ones on the way. Thank god for the Variac. It saved a lot of expensive parts.

Two fret dressings in a row. I love the transformation. It goes from sucking to awesome. This old Ibanez has really low action and some of the frets were worn in spots. Now, it’s like the best most comfortable guitar ever.

"Give it 50% power, Scotty! Aye aye Captain." Just fired up my JCM 800 build, being super careful with the power-up process. The Variac's letting me add power gradually, which is great for those sensitive F&T electrolytic cans. Everything looks good so far, voltages are in check and no smoke... now it's time to let the electrolytic caps “form” under gradually increasing current.

Putting the vacuum tube glass into my JCM 800 conversion build. This is the next to last step before flipping the switch to on. The Heyboer transformers are seriously impressive, and heavy. All 3 weigh about 25 lbs. I wired this from scratch so wish me luck!

Cosmetics aren’t a huge concern with this one. It does, however, posses some amazing tones. I added two cleats for stabilization. One underneath the big hole that matches his strumming pattern. The other on the side of the guitar to stop that worrisome crack. All patched up and ready for more use.
