I’m so happy that I took the leap and opened Saffron Studio as a home bakery. Seeing the kids involved in every step and even learning the business side early on makes me feel soooooo proud 😍
And who knows, maybe one day we do start that family restaurant and you get to try all these creations 😉

“… but Sourdough starter is soooo hard to keep alive” is the most common myth I hear from you all at the pop-ups. This and so many other myths unfortunately are created during pandemic because people were bored and needed a pet to take care of 😂

Let me share a secret with you 🤫 I feed my starter once a week and nothing happens to it. Needless to say I have a bakery that depends on that starter.

If you like to learn sourdough the easy way and be able to tell apart the myths and facts join me in my beginner workshop. I have multiple sessions scheduled right now including one for the upcoming weekend. (Link in bio)

🧚 And this is how GFree came to life 😂

The process of making a strong gluten free starter was actually pretty easy:

Day 1. Mix 20gr of warm bottled (not tap) water with 20gr of brown gluten free flour. I alternated between brown rice flour and teff flour. Close the jar loosely and place it somewhere warm for a day.

Day 2. You will see some bubbles but no growth. That means GFree is alive and weak. Using a new clean jar mix 20gr of GFree, 20gr water and 20gr flour.

Day 3+. Keep feeding GFree once a day. Every day he shows some growth. Some days less than others. GFree is ready for baking when it consistently doubles.

Let me know if you try it 👀 what would you name your starter?
