A special good morning to all my fellow moms out there!

As seasons change and we move closer to summer, so do our bakery’s offerings. Today we’ve have a garlic herb baker’s choice to start your weekend, as well as, crispy baguettes if you need some thing to nibble on as you stroll the market this morning.

I was surprised to find white nectarines at Dan’s this week and we’re pairing them with strawberries for today’s galettes. There’s also an oldie but a goodie, strawberry rhubarb jam bars- it’s that tangy, jammy granola bar that you didn’t know you needed. And of course it’s time to switch up - hitting the menu is a new strawberry scone!

I hope your weekend is full of delicious food, sunshine, and quiet reflective moments.

We’re back at the market this morning and hoping to see you there. Loads of sourdough to fuel your weekend including jalapeno cheddar which is a total favorite.

A little space update is that we have had a few unfortunate set backs that are causing progress to take much longer than expected. We appreciate the excitement about our spot on Encinal but we are not in a position to estimate a projected opening yet. The challenges are expensive and tbh, pretty emotionally draining. I’ll leave it at that.

Shout out to my small business owners who work hard to bring their dreams (especially on tight budgets) into reality! Also shout out to our customer, Dave, a local mechanical engineer who is helping us with some rather techical aspects of the project. Yay for the power of community!

Hope to see you this morning. Hope the fog burns off. I’m reminding myself that slow progress is still progress.

We’re back today after a little stint last week in Palm Springs. It was so nice to spend some time in mineral hot springs and take in the majestic desert landscape.

We’ve got a few nice loaves for all of you whole grain lovers today including a few 100% einkorn loaves and our honey whole wheat in both the half & whole loaves.

For sweets, it’s a berry lattice pie slices to get you through the week. I can see that we are moving towards the time of fruit abundance - still thinking about an aprium (75% apricot, 25% plum) I ate at the Heart of the City farmer’s market last Wednesday. Boy it was delicious!

Today we’ve got a beautiful oat porridge sourdough to share with you as our baker’s choice. If you’ve never had a porridge loaf, we include oatmeal in the mix, and it adds a special custard-like texture to the sourdough—really nice, with a touch of apple cider syrup that may or may not come through. I’ll try to have some samples available this morning.

We’re continuing with our rhubarb offerings today. We’re doing another round of small rhubarb custard pie—same as last week, but in a mini instead of a slice. Eat one cold, and it’s like a lightly sweetened pudding with a tangy fruit topping. Try it, and you’ll thank me later! I’ve also got some strawberry rhubarb hand pies and did our first round of strawberry jam this season. We experimented with adding rose geranium, and it brought beautiful floral undertones.

Lastly, Easter is next week, and we are offering both whole quiches and whole carrot cakes for pickup next Saturday, April 4th at the market. Preorders are up on our website, along with bread if you’re looking to add something from Night Heron to your holiday table.

Good morning, everyone and happy first day of spring!

Did you survive the heat this week? It should be 10 degrees cooler today which means absolutely perfect market conditions. Come on by! I’ll have some goodies to fuel your weekend including a rhubarb custard pie which is for once, a pie not made by me! Excited to try it as we move into rhubarb’s short season.

Also important to mention is that the baker’s choice is smoked potato & spring onion, but no focaccia today, as Bodhi has another early soccer game. And wish Aubrey the best, as she runs the Oakland marathon tomorrow!

Hello and good morning to you!

We’ve added some new products this week, tipping our hat to the springy season upon us. The menu today features a new biscuit with green garlic, fromage blanc, and alleppo pepper. There’s also an olive oil spelt carrot cake that was a favorite last year. Nettles have also been foraged, blanched, and blended into delicious nettle pesto to top our focaccia slices today and asparagus is paired with our quiche!

Enjoy what you’ve got lined up for your weekend and a special good luck to all the soccer players ! Today’s the start to Bodhi’s season! Go Islanders!
