The amount of tiny details that go into one cake is honestly ridiculous when I stop and think about it 😭✨

Mixing colors, fixing textures, stepping back every 5 minutes to stare at it in silence, adding one more detail, then another one… and somehow this is still my favorite part of what I do.

Trying to get better about posting cakes before they become historical artifacts 😭✨

I made this cake in 2023 and somehow between baking, cake orders, designing cake toppers, laser engraving, packaging Etsy orders, and trying to function like a normal human… social media just keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.

But honestly, looking back through old work like this is kind of wild because I can see all the little details and styles that still inspire what I create now 🦋

I had these fairy cakesicles finished, lined up, camera ready, everything looked good. The kind of good most people would never question. But then I heard that little voice... “wait... I can do that better.”
And once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
So back to the table they went. More texture, more detail, a little more me in every piece and shimmer. Because being a cake artist isn’t just about knowing when to stop... it’s about knowing when something doesn’t feel like your work yet.
It’s a constant back-and-forth between
“this is enough” and “this could be more.”
And sometimes the magic lives in thatsecond chance.
The first version was pretty... but the second one finally felt like me

Because these were done… packaged up… ready to go—exactly what was ordered.
And still… something in my brain went
“yeah, but we can push it further.”

Not fixing—refining. Not second guessing—just knowing there’s another level and going back for it.

So yes… they got unwrapped 😅✨

These are the final final version—but if you’re a cake artist, you already know that line is always moving 👀

Some cakes are just dessert… and some feel like a full game played out in buttercream.

This one started the way they all do—quiet kitchen, blank canvas, ideas bouncing around faster than I can catch them. One color turned into five, one detail turned into twenty, and somewhere along the way, the nerves crept in. Not the “will it taste good?” kind… but the “will it feel right?” kind.

Because decorating isn’t just about making something pretty. It’s about building a moment layer by layer—trusting your hands when things don’t go as planned, fixing what smudges, leaning into the imperfections, and finishing stronger than you started.

And when it all finally comes together… it’s like that last, perfect play. You step back, heart still racing, hoping someone else feels the magic you poured into it.
