So we've seen some restaurants and cafes using AI for their marketing, and the results have been... Interesting. 😬

With the state and federal government gaslighting everyone on a daily basis, the last thing you need is feeling like even your food is a lie. 😮‍💨 I can promise you that the food images we post are not only actual items that we just made - from scratch and by hand, mind you - but most of the time (with a few exceptions), it's a photo of something we just made that day, that is literally in our case.

Like this croissant. This very croissant was baked this morning, and unless it's already sold, you'll find this exact croissant in our case. 🥐 In fact those photos of our case are as of 30 minutes ago, and those BBQ Chicken Handpies were made this morning, using BBQ Sauce we make in house from scratch from our own recipe.

I can also promise you that nothing on our website or social media is written by ChatGPT or any other such program. It's me - Mary - typing these words, one by one.

In a world that seems so uncertain, it might not seem like a big deal that your local bakery is committed to presenting an honest product in an honest way, but we think it is. It's tied to the water we drink, the air we breathe, the land we walk on. We are all part of this bigger picture and we think you're worth the consideration.

It's Memorial Day Weekend, and we're open our usual hours (9am-3pm) so you can treat yourself to a little something. We are closed tomorrow for the holiday, so be sure to stop in today to stock up!

Our Cherry Crumblebuns have made their debut, and though they're not as flashy as the Ube, our staff is pretty excited about their return, it's one of their favorites. 🥰🍒

We have all the standard fare; bagels, biscuits (and gravy!), even Roasted Red Pepper & Smoked Gouda Soup, Savory Stuffed Croissants, scones, cookies (including some fun frosted sugar cookies 😉) and the chocolate croissants were VERY happy today so they are ginormous. 😃 Our soft and fluffy Banana Sheet Cake has been popular, so that'll be around for a while, and we've got Coconut Cream Pie, whole or by the slice!

Cruffins are in the case, as are cheesecakes, macarons, quiche, and even that GF Strawberry Angel Food Cake, whole or by the slice. 🤯 We can make egg and cheese sandwiches all day, until we've sold out of course, and if you want chicken salad or egg salad, we've got that fresh as well. 🙌🥯🥪🥐🍲🍪🍰🥧

In our case it's not really that deep, we're just switching up a few flavors that have been greatly loved and run their course. Stop in today and tomorrow to bid farewell to our Coconut Ube Buns, and our Strawberry Crullers! We'll have them both today and Friday, but Saturday and Sunday we'll be switching our vegan buns to Cherry Crumblebuns 🍒, and our rotating cruller flavor will switch to Passion Fruit. 😋

Though the deceptive weather the last few days may have led you to believe that summer was here, we must remember that we are in Ohio and this state likes to f*ck with us. 😬😮‍💨

So of course, today the weather is back to drizzle and gloom, my personal favorite. 🌧️☔ However, to give us all happy thoughts of sunshine and frolicking along the beach, we've brought back our Buttered Pineapple Scones, sweet and fruity, like a little sunshine for your mouth. 👄🌞🍍

And if you're feeling sconey, it's the last day for our Strawberry Coconut Scones 🍓🥥, which are so soft and tasty, and Sophie says they taste like Strawberry Shortcake. Come snag one! 💕

Sarah made these absolutely *gorgeous* sandwich buns this morning, so showing you was a necessity. 😍 Plus our Curried Egg Salad and our Classic Chicken Salad are made fresh from scratch in house, so paired with a little lettuce and thick sliced tomato, these just might be the freshest sandwiches in town.

Our fruit Danish are looking pretty fresh, with blueberry crumble, strawberry, or tart cherry rounding out your options for today. Strawberry Coconut scones are on their swan song, so get one while you can!

As someone who isn't exactly a "soup person", I've always been surprised when customers want soup no matter the weather. For me, soup has always been for cases of frigid weather or nursing someone back to health.

But since many of our customers do indeed seem to be soup people, and since it's completely possible to understand what others appreciate about something even if it isn't your go-to choice 😐, I use our soup as a personal challenge to make a soup that even non-"soup people" would want a bowl of. Our Creamy Chicken and Mushroom is that soup. 🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫 🤤😋

We've made this once before, but the recipe was mostly my notes scrawled on the back of a piece of notebook paper. So I reworked it a bit, typed it up and we've made it again, this time with a real recipe that we can actually make again! It's GF as always, but with big chunks of chicken and a creamy, buttery base, it's neither vegetarian nor dairy free. Chock-full of mushrooms, carrots, celery, potatoes and chicken, it's warm and filling, and while it's certain to immediately cure any illness (not really - that's a joke just so we're clear), you may need to have several bowls of it for good measure.

BANANA CAKE IS BACK!! 🥳🍌 Soft and fluffy, frosted with cream cheese buttercream and a caramel drizzle, it reminds me of childhood and summery days running around barefoot. 💕

We also have Fig & Honey Cheese Danish, with of course, plus strawberry cheese danish, big soft and chewy bagels, and our buttery buns are freshly buttered and ready for your chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches. 🥪

A few items are on their way out, so enjoy them while we've got em: our strawberry crullers are being replaced with their more summery cousin, Passion Fruit, and the Coconut Ube Buns won't be here much longer with Cherry Crumblebuns chomping at the bit (that does sound like a good racehorse name). 🐎

This happy little frog was going to tell you that it's *last call* for Mother's Day pre-orders, but as you can see she got distracted by her lovely little flower, so it's up to me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Our online store at sweetmarysbakery.com is closing tonight at 10pm to give us time to plan and prepare your orders for pickup on Saturday and Sunday! Head on over there now to place your order (click on Holiday orders!) and treat Mom to something tasty on her special day.
