🐾A little update from behind the scenes at Pastry Paws!🐾

If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been the last couple of weeks, I promise I haven’t disappeared! 😅 I’ve just been keeping busy behind the scenes!

Over the last two weeks, I’ve had orders that totaled over 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 of dog treats! One of those orders was extra special because it was for a WEDDING! 🥹🤍 The happy couple wanted little packages of dog treats for their guests to take home. How fun is that?! What a neat idea, and I was so happy to be a small part of their special day!

On top of all the baking, I’ve traveled more than 1,000 miles this past week as our family experienced the loss of someone very dear to us, followed by getting to celebrate the beginning of a young couple’s marriage. It’s been an emotional week filled with both heartache and joy. ❤️

With everything going on, I’m definitely due for a little R&R!

So, there will NOT be a treat release this week. I’m taking a little time to catch my breath and recharge. BUT don’t worry! I’ll have some fresh batches of your favorite treats back on the shelves next Monday! 🍪

I’ve also been brainstorming some fun ideas for the upcoming holidays, and I’m hoping to get those thoughts out of my head and onto paper soon! I’m working toward releasing something fun and NEW that I haven’t offered before, so be sure to stay tuned! 👀✨ I can’t wait to share what I have in mind!

Our friends at Boujee Mutt Self Serve Dog Wash & Spa are working on something truly special!! A program to help provide grooming services for dogs whose families may be going through a difficult season and could use a little extra help.

I absolutely love the heart behind this. Sometimes a little kindness and a helping hand can mean so much, not only to a family, but to the beloved pets who are a part of it. ❤️

She has a beautiful vision for this program, and now she needs our community to help make it possible!

🐾 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗟 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗦…

If you’ve bought a bag of treats from Pastry Paw’s Bakery, seen me at a vendor event, or followed along on this little adventure of mine, you probably know the name… but you may not know the story behind it.

So, let me introduce myself.

I’m Jandi, Kansas born and raised, and still right here in the Abilene area raising my own family. I’m a wife, mom to three daughters, dog mom to four dogs, and apparently a cat mom too… with a few kittens currently running around!

When I’m not working my regular 8-5, you’ll usually find me baking, crafting, cheering on kids from the sidelines, or working with my husband on our never-ending list of home renovations (I’m kidding… mostly 😆).

A couple of years ago, my family bought an old farm and we began the journey of becoming homesteaders. We’re learning as we go, trying to become a little more self-sufficient, and building something that we hope our family will enjoy for years to come.

And that’s actually where Pastry Paw’s Bakery began.

It started with a pumpkin patch.

I had more homegrown pumpkins than I knew what to do with and I hated the thought of letting good food go to waste. So I started experimenting in the kitchen, looking for ways to turn some of our homegrown produce into something my dogs could enjoy.

One experiment turned into another… and another… and somewhere along the way, Pastry Paw’s Bakery was born.

Today, we have 20+ flavors of homemade treats—and what started as a way to use up a little extra produce has turned into something I never expected.

My dogs are a huge part of the inspiration behind what I create. They are my taste testers, my critics, and occasionally the reason a batch doesn’t make it very far before disappearing. 😂

My family has also become a huge part of this little business. They help me at vendor events, cheer me on, and are some of my very best marketers. I truly couldn’t do this without them.

This first year hasn’t always been easy. There has been a LOT to learn about running a business, especially when it comes to the rules, regulations and hoops you have to jump through just to get a single recipe approved for sale. Add in being a mom, wife, and working a full-time job outside the home…there have definitely been days when I’ve wondered what in the world I signed myself up for.

There are late nights prepping for vendor shows. Early mornings in the kitchen. Hours spent baking, dehydrating, packaging and labeling treats just to have the shelves stocked for another week.

It can be exhausting.

But I also know that someday I’ll look back on these crazy, busy years and be incredibly thankful that I kept going. Because Pastry Paw’s is more than just a little dog treat business to me.

I chose the name Pastry Paw’s because I hope this little idea eventually grows into a full pet-friendly bakery—not just for dogs, but for cats too! 🐶🐱

My dream is to one day have a storefront where I can meet each and every one of your four-legged family members and spoil them with delicious, wholesome treats.

I want to celebrate their birthdays, gotcha days, milestones, and all those ordinary days that deserve a little something special.

I dream of a bakery filled with crunchy treats, soft treats, chews, pupcakes and cakes, toys and accessories… and someday, even goodies made especially for our feline friends.

I don’t know exactly how long it will take to get there, but I’m going to keep baking, keep learning, keep dreaming and keep building—one treat, one customer and one crazy busy week at a time. 🐾
