We have spoken to many authors who get stuck in the same place โ endlessly rewriting the same chapter, the same opening, the same section.
They think the writing is the problem.
Usually, it is not.
When you cannot move past a section, it is almost always because one of these things is true:

The instinct is to push harder. To force the words until they come.
A better approach: step back and ask why this section exists. What does the reader need from it? What does it set up for what comes next?
If you cannot answer those questions clearly, the rewriting will never feel right โ because the problem is structural, not stylistic.
Sometimes the most productive thing a writer can do is leave that chapter and write the next one. Come back when you can see the full shape of the book around it.
