Coffee-to-Milk Ratio: Finding Your Perfect Brew

Hey coffee lovers! ☕ Ever wondered why your home-brewed latte or flat white doesn't quite taste like the one from your favorite café? The secret often lies in the coffee-to-milk ratio! Getting this balance right can transform your morning cup from "meh" to "wow!"
Here’s a quick guide to some popular coffee drinks and their typical ratios:

Latte (1:3 or 1:4): A lot of steamed milk, a little foam, and a single or double shot of espresso. It's the perfect choice for a creamy, mellow coffee.

Cappuccino (1:1:1): Equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and a thick layer of foam. This classic is known for its strong coffee flavor and airy texture.

Flat White (1:2): A smooth, strong coffee with less milk and a very thin layer of microfoam. It’s perfect for those who want a robust espresso flavor without the bitterness.

Cortado (1:1): Equal parts espresso and steamed milk, with no foam. This drink is all about balance—it’s strong but still smooth.

Uganda’s Coffee Twins: Arabica vs Robusta
Most people just say “coffee is coffee” but in Uganda, we’re blessed with two very different personalities in one family.
Robusta – The Ancient One
Born in the lush lowlands, Robusta is actually indigenous to Uganda. Strong, bold, and earthy, it’s like that uncle who always speaks with a deep voice and keeps you awake in meetings. Robusta has twice the caffeine of Arabica, which means it kicks harder, perfect for those who want power in a cup. Uganda is one of the world’s biggest producers of Robusta, and ours is famous for its naturally rich crema in espresso.
Arabica – The Elegant Cousin
Arabica grows high up in the mountains; think Elgon, Rwenzori, Kigezi. Cooler air, volcanic soils, misty mornings. Arabica takes its time, soaking in those conditions, and in return gives us a smoother, sweeter cup with notes of fruit, chocolate, even a hint of wine. It’s the kind of coffee you sip slowly and say “hmm, I taste berries in this one.”
The Difference in a Sip
Robusta = stronger, earthier, more caffeine.
Arabica = smoother, sweeter, more delicate.
Both are treasures. Both are Uganda. And both deserve a place in our cups at home, not just on export ships.
So next time you ask for “Ugandan coffee,” remember to also ask: “Arabica or Robusta?”

Bakers! Here’s Your Secret Ingredient for Magic! ☕🍞🍪
If you love baking, you already know the joy of pulling something golden and fragrant from the oven. Now imagine that same joy, but with a twist that wakes up every sense: coffee.
Coffee isn’t just for drinking. It can:
Boost flavour:- Add depth and richness to cakes, muffins, cookies, and breads. A hint of coffee makes chocolate taste more chocolatey, caramel taste more buttery, and nuts taste more toasty.
Enhance aroma:- Freshly brewed coffee or ground beans fill your kitchen with a warm, inviting scent that keeps customers coming back.
Bring a health edge:- Coffee is rich in antioxidants, can help focus the mind, and pairs beautifully with wholesome, less sugary recipes.
Create unique products, Coffee glazed doughnuts, espresso brownies, cappuccino cupcakes, tiramisu tarts… the possibilities are endless.
For bakers, coffee is a story ingredient. Every cup, every sprinkle of beans on top tells your customers:

“This is proudly Ugandan. This is crafted with love.”
So, to all the bakers out there, let coffee inspire your next creation. Surprise your friends, wow your customers, and give your pastries that irresistible “just one more bite” factor.

We export the best coffee in the world… so why do we drink it the least? ☕🇺🇬
From Paris to Tokyo, Uganda’s coffee is a VIP guest in the finest cafés. But here at home, it’s still waiting for a seat at the table.
Let’s change that. Let’s make coffee part of our weddings, our mornings, our music videos, our roadside stops our life.
Share your Ugandan coffee moment with and tell us: Where were you, and who were you with when you had your last cup of local coffee?
Because when we drink Ugandan coffee, we’re not just sipping we’re supporting farmers, creating jobs, and keeping pride in every cup.
Grown here. Brewed for us.
