😍𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘: 𝐖𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩😍
For every hopeless romantic, dreaming up love stories is a force of habit. We find perfect scenarios in little corners, sitting idly pretty in our made-up solitude, hoping the right person comes along and notices our vaguely disinterested attitude☹️.
Mine was always searching for that story at a cake shop. Maybe it was ever since I heard 🎶“Looking back, over my shoulder, da da I never wanted,……to say goodbye,” at A Cake shop-my favorite subtle love song. A simple story was written about the possibility of falling in love in the vaguest way.
A significant moment casually unfolding in the mundane setting of an old cake shop. Quietly delicate, appropriately romantic.
I grew acquainted to the idea of Sunday mornings in a local cake shop.
Reading my book📚. Writing a story. Sitting under the white light of the early sun☀️. While the rest of the world was moving in a faster pace, grabbing coffee along the way of running errands, I was tucked away, untouched, in my isolated corner. The auspicious contrast would attract that one person's attention. She'd be fascinated in the way I was lost amongst the scrambled world. She'd grow enchanted by my quiet, private manner.
And so she goes, casually ordering her cup☕, but having it to stay instead. Sits herself strategically nearby far enough to seem natural, close enough to give it a try. She sips her coffee anxiously and aware. Contemplating the many ways this incident may unravel. Wondering if she was bold enough to take a risk on fate😉. Her every movement now meticulously calculated, glancing every so often towards me, but I'd be too consumed in my business to even notice.
What seems like considerably too long of a time, going back and forth in her mind, she finally gathers enough courage to speak up. Initially stumbling over her words, regretfully not anticipating the perfect line, but delivers the muffled sounds charmingly so.
“Do you mind if we share this cake, It’s my birthday and I have no one to celebrate it with,”
I look up startled by the interrupted silence, then realize it was for me😇. Our wall separating worlds broken down by her audacity. I laugh at her adorable noticeable nervousness. Whatever she said didn't make sense, but her boldness did. And I'm immediately drawn in.
Ever since that day, I’ve learned how to write the words, “I love You,” on the cake🎂 every year on her birthday to remind her of the very first time we met.
