Since February, 2014, we have been serving the Fort Portal area with all kinds of pastries, coffee and teas. We are a non-profit small business (a registered NGO in Uganda) that supports five employees, as well as other works in the villages and the Fort Portal area. We exist to teach Ugandans to run a small business, including training in baking, customer service, hygienic processes, keeping fina
ncial books, etc. We hope you will come, relax with friends, get on the internet or just get some work done while enjoying cinnamon rolls, scones, a variety of cookies (including chocolate chip!) and cakes. We use local ingredients available in the markets in Fort Portal. We serve African tea (hot milk with tea), black tea (grown in Uganda), black coffee (grown in Uganda), African coffee (hot milk with coffee), Indian tea (black tea with hot milk, sugar and masala), as well as a variety of sodas and bottled water. We would love to see you at Sweet Aromas! Laurie, the owner, has been in Uganda since 2010, helping orphanages, schools and churches to become self-supporting through beginning and running small businesses. We raised start up capital from friends in the States to begin Sweet Aromas. The bakery now supports its own expenses including staff, supplies and a part of its rent. As of September, 2016, we have begun saving and raising money to be able to better serve Fort Portal and our employees and trainees by buying land and building our own building.
