Hello everyone! A quick shoutout to let you know that we are safe, evacuated since yesterday.
I grabbed a loaf of sourdough shokupan from the house before we left, and I sliced it with a tool knife on a plastic tray.
Let me record our ordeal.
By yesterday late morning, we know that the water level is not going down any sooner and it’s impossible to stay in the house. Instead of waiting for the dreaded scenario where the electricity might be cut off like in Hat Yai flood, or flood level reaching second floor and we have to be rescued by boats, we made a snap decision to move out while tall cars could still come in.
We called a cousin who has a tall car to pick us up and get out of the house. A darling friend also offered to come pick us up with their tall car, but the cousin was nearer to us so we asked him for help first.
We had already packed our bags - a few belongings, important documents, clothes to change for a few days. I slung the backpack and a personal sling pouch all the time feeling antsy while waiting for the car.
When his car arrived, I nearly burst out crying with happiness. I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. We were wearing rubber boots and all. The water level in front of the house was even higher that it got into the rubber boots all over.
Anyway, long story short. We stayed in a hotel in a dry area that has hot shower, clean toilet/room. That’s all I ever asked for.
In this flood crisis, I’m thankful for a few things:
♥️ the family remains in light spirits
♥️ the kids helped to lift things to higher levels, showing the best team work I’ve ever seen
♥️ selfless help from friends and family
I’m grateful that a few friends had offered us to stay at their house not affected by flood. Your thoughts about us really give us hopes and encouragement to face the situation. Love you all!
My dearest darling friend also lent us their tall car so that we can at least get around places while staying in the hotel. We are forever in your debt. ♥️
Tomorrow it will be better. If you’re affected by the flood, please remain hopeful. We survive and it is soon time to clean up the mess.
