The year of the wood Snake is just a a few weeks away. Lapis is now accepting pre-orders for Chinese New Year goodies. Customers can choose for delivery on 26-29 Jan 2025. Closing date for pre-order will be on 23 Jan 2025. We have the following Chinese New Year delights that can be shared with family and friends:

1. Plain Jane Lapis and Cinnamon Lapis cakes that are freshly baked at Lapis

2. Pineapple jam tarts that you can pop the whole thing in one mouthful and savour the fine buttery goodness together with the tartness of the pineapple jam

Chinese mooncake biscuit / doll biscuit / gong zai beng 公仔饼 is a popular snack during mid autumn festival especially in Penang, Malaysia. It is actually the dough from mooncake skin shaped and baked without filling.

Originally, in the olden days, bakers will prepare the dough of mooncakes without filling to test the texture of the dough and also the temperature of their brick oven. The dough are then shaped into piglet shape, thus earning the nickname of this snack, piggy biscuits. Eventually, it evolves into many other shapes such as goldfish and rabbit, and is now known as doll biscuit.
