Maria's cakes Academy

Today, we proudly unveil and recognize Maria’s Cake Academy for its remarkable contribution toward informal education, vocational skills development, entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and youth empowerment in Sierra Leone.

Maria’s Cake Academy is an informal education and vocational training institution dedicated to equipping young people, especially women and girls, with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and opportunities for economic independence through professional baking and creative arts training.

Established in 2020, the academy has grown into a recognized skills training institution providing training in cake baking, cake decoration, pastry production, event decoration, and small business development. Through its hands-on learning approach, the academy continues to empower young people with employable and income-generating skills that contribute to personal growth and community development.

With branches in Kono, Makeni, Freetown, and its headquarters in Waterloo, Maria’s Cake Academy has successfully trained over 2,000 aspiring bakers and entrepreneurs across Sierra Leone, helping many beneficiaries become self-reliant and financially empowered.

As an informal education institution, the academy plays a vital role in reducing unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship by creating opportunities for skills acquisition, mentorship, creativity, innovation, and economic empowerment among youths and women.
The organization’s dedication to practical education, empowerment, and community transformation continues to inspire hope and create meaningful opportunities for young people across Sierra Leone.

The Western Area Rural District Students’ Union proudly acknowledges Maria’s Cake Academy for its dedication, innovation, and continued commitment to empowering lives through informal education and vocational skills development.
