Surely I can't be the only baker this happens to?! 😂

The camera comes on and suddenly the cake mix has a personal vendetta, the filling starts escaping, the carving gets VERY questionable and every decoration needs an emergency repair.

Instagram makes baking look so effortless… this is the bit they don't show you 😂

Please tell me your baking fails because I need to know I'm not alone 👇🏻

A little look behind the scenes of this HUGE lemon cake 🍋✨

12" of lemon sponge, layered with lemon curd and buttercream, then finished in beautifully smooth buttercream.

From a very large cake tin… to all those layers… to the finished cake. 🤍

One of those cakes that was an absolute joy to make — and just look at that final result! ✨

This is why I love making bespoke cakes. 🤍

This cake was inspired by All Too Well — a very personal design created around a song that means so much to the family.
I loved bringing all those little details together, but receiving this message afterwards honestly made my day. 🥹
There is something so special about knowing that a cake you've poured hours into became part of someone's celebration and meant as much to them as it did to you while making it.

Three things I wish everyone knew about gluten-free cakes… 🎂🤍

✨ Gluten-free does NOT have to mean dry.
✨ Cross-contamination matters, especially when you're baking for someone with coeliac disease.
✨ And you absolutely do not have to compromise on how your cake looks.

At English Rose, every cake is made in my 100% gluten-free kitchen — because being gluten free shouldn't mean settling for anything less than delicious, beautiful cake. 🌹
